Massage Therapist/Reiki Master

I have been a practicing massage therapist for over 30 years.
While living in California I was injured and told I would be a chronic pain sufferer for the rest of my life. Not being the type of person who takes this type of news well, I set out to change my diagnosis and perspective on life. When I started looking into the healing arts I found many practitioners who used many different modalities or techniques they would combine different techniques in one session depending on what the customer needed, this worked well for me.

BackgroundMy journey started in the 1980’s as a deep tissue massage therapist and went on to learn many different techniques Chi Nei Tsang, Shiatsu, Reflexology and Craniosacral Therapy are some of the modalities I combine and use while working on clients. I found Craniosacral Therapy to work well with clients and liked it as a diagnostic tool as well as a healing modality.

I learned about Reiki back in 1998 and had a few Reiki practitioners work on me, but did not have the kind of results I was looking for. I was skeptical of its use for long term healing and there seemed to be different levels of practitioners with varying skills.   Then in 2010 Nadsa De Monteiro re-introduced me to Reiki, Nadsa was a Reiki master teacher and a very powerful healer. She talked me into taking a Reiki l class and asked me to give Reiki a chance. Being an energy worker for years, I found Reiki l not very useful and difficult to just let the energy flow.   I spent years learning how to direct energy and use it as a diagnostic tool.  Nadsa asked me to take a “leap of faith” and take the Reiki ll  class and go onto the Master/Teacher training. She promised me that once I got the master attunement I would understand her excitement and energy.   My “leap of faith” paid off after my Master attunement when I found that Reiki used on its own was a powerful healing tool and even more powerful when combined it with other modalities.

It wasn’t until 2013 when I was looking through a Reiki Magazine that I saw a Reiki Master/Teacher class taught by William Rand in Glastonbury England that Reiki changed my life. Initially the idea of getting my Reiki Master Attunement inside the stones of Stonehenge was the impetus for the journey. The amount of energy I would be immersed in during an attunement inside sacred stones was almost overwhelming to think about.

When I arrived in England and checked into the Abby at Glastonbury I felt like I was stepping back in time, or outside of time. When I met William, I found him to be a very down to earth kind of person who loved what he did and loved teaching Reiki. I understood why it was his life mission to spread Reiki to the masses. (Go figure!) His teaching style really resonated with me, he used a lot of examples of how Reiki changed his life and how his persistence and perseverance paid off every time. His gentle personality and teaching techniques made the class move along at a nick clip. During the Master/Teacher training he mentioned that this class could and probably would change your life. You might find that relationships that you have had for years will disappear, nothing malicious or mean, you will just realize that these people are no longer serving you and are not on the same path as you and you will drift away from these people. You will find yourself on another path and meet new people who think the same way as you do, want to accomplish the same things, these new friends will become companions where you old friend who are now on a different path may not follow you down your new path.
